Right Bank Bordeaux |
| Come join us this Saturday to try a great line up of wines from the right side of the Bordeaux Valley where Merlot is king. But this isn’t the kind of Merlot that was disparaged in the movie Sideways. Merlot from Bordeaux is complex with a definite unique terrior, and blending it is a combination of art and tradition. While some Bordeaux takes more time to mature, we’ve assembled a line up of them that are drinking wonderfully now. These wines are directly imported into Seattle by Chateau St. Martin which allows them to offer good wine at good prices. Come check them out. Jeremy Minor will be on hand to tell you more. |

| 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc This Chateau and its vineyard were purchased by Jean Halley in 2000. He then completely renovated and modernized the facilities, installing a state-of-the-art gravity-feed system complete with sunken tanks, a rotating walkway and double vibrating sorting tables for performing a meticulous triage of the harvested fruit, and hired enologist Denis Dubourdieu to consult. With the improvements, and change in winemaking style, the wine has become a cult favorite. Robert Parker (the king of cult) describes the 2003: "This hedonistic sleeper of the vintage offers copious quantities of blueberry and blackberry fruit intermixed with earth and mineral-like notes. Dense, fleshy, powerful, and rich, with low acidity, it can be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years." Watch out. The wines rich cherry and plum flavors and soft tannins just might abduct you. |
