Eric Dunham

Eric Dunham has made himself a reputation making great Washington wines ever since he released his 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon.   He was one of thirteen early wineries in Walla Walla, a number that has now grown to over one hundred.  Taking a few tips form his renowned neighbors (Woodward Canyon, Lionetti, L'Ecole)   Dunham quickly became known for making full bodied red wines using grapes from some of the finest vineyards in the Walla Walla, Yakima and Columbia Valleys.  Join us this Saturday when Eric will be on hand at European Vine Selections to show off some of his current releases.

2006 Four Legged White, $14

The first Riesling from Dunham Cellars shows crisp, ripe green apple, lemon meringue and hints of coconut on the nose. A wonderfully rich yet refreshing mouth with apples, pineapple and pear notes with mango riding along...Left with a little bit of residual sugar, this wine makes a perfect complement to foods with spice.  Maisy, the current winery dog, graces the label.

2007 Three Legged Red, $19

Named for the original winery dog Port, Three Legged Red is Dunham's red table wine is pulled from the same barrels from which they make their Cabernet, Merlots and Syrahs.

2006 Trutina, $25

A blend of 49% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot, and 3% Syrah, the Trutina is lush and soft with ripe mountain berries, sweet tobacco and a hint of allspice.  The Wine Advocate gave it 91 points and described it as Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has layers of spicy fruit, excellent depth, outstanding concentration, a firm structure, and plenty of length. This nicely rendered and fairly priced effort will offer prime drinking from 2010 to 2018.

2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, $45

The Flagship wine for Dunham, the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon XII has a nose of ripe, exotic cherry and cranberry with baking spices and bramble. The wine is richly structured with lush tannins, evocative minerality, mountain berries, plum and a racy core of black cherry.  The wine got a 93 point rating and was an editor's choice in the Wine Enthusiast.  Come see for yourself.

2008 Late Harvest Riesling, 375 ml., $19

Harvested in late November 2008 from Lewis Estate Vineyards, this low yield late harvest has a beautiful essence of apricot nectar with additional aromas of orange blossom and spicy tropical fruits.
