Bourgogne and Beyond
Imported by Millesime

Come by the shop Saturday and try some great tasting Burgundy from the great 2005 vintage. 100% Pinot Noir, from France, fermented and bottled the way god intended, full of rich cherry flavor, good minerality and smoky nuance. These are some nice wines at very reasonable prices. To start off we're pouring a couple of great wines from some less prestigious areas. We think you'll like them. Dan Houston of local importer Millesime will be on hand to tell you more. Here is the line up:

2007 Domaine Haut-Marin, Colombard Sauvignon   $9
A blend of Colombard and Sauvignon Blanc from Gascony in the southwest of France the Haut-Marin is a great food wine.  It has a gooseberry scent combined with flint and citrus nose, followed by full body flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, and lemon and a mineral note finish.

2006 Domaine Poupat, Giennois Rouge Trocadero   $15

75% Gamay and 25% Pinot Noir

The little known appellation of Coteaux du Giennois is quite small and situated on the Loire just north of Sancerre and Pouilly. Domaine Poupat uses no oak, preferring to produce fresh, fruity styles.  The Trocadero is described as "an intriguing blend . . . with major minerality and serious geek factor." What more could one ask for?

2005 Domaine Virely-Rougeot, Bourgogne Pres de Pommard   $18
Virely-Rougeot is situated in Pommard, one of the most prestigious villages of the Côte de Beaune.  This entry Bourgogne is great value.

2005 Domaine Thevenot Le Brun, Hautes Cotes de Nuits, Renardes   $20
This single vineyard pinot is loaded with dark cherry flavors and smooth tannins.

2005 Domaine Claude Nouveau, Santenay 1er Cru "Grand Clos Rousseau   $30
This is a very fine wine whose grapes are protected from the wind by dry stone walls, and is full bodied and extremely complex. The wine has full ripe red fruit and a thick smooth body. It is possible to taste blackcurrant, blackberry vanilla and spices. Taste great now and will just improve with time.
