American Northwest Importers |
Stop by this next Saturday to try some wines that are perfect for summer activity. They are brought to us by local importer American Northwest, who seems to have a way of finding good wines and getting them here at great prices. The wines we're pouring this Saturday are great matches for barbeques, patio suppers, or week end excursions. Come check them out. Anton Fedechkin will be on hand to tell you more about the wines.
2007 Grazioso Chardonnay/Torrontes $10
Produced from organic vineyards in Mendoza, the Grazioso has subdued floral & complex tropical fruit aromas, crisp flavors of pineapple & pear with a medium body and good finish. Great for summer quaffing.
2006 Italo Cescon Pinot Grigio DOC Friuli Grave, $13
This crisp Italian Pinot Gris has been a favorite of the shop for a while now. It has aromas of peach, and acacia with fruity overtones and orange peel. Crisp and refreshing, it is a great match for a wide variety of food.
2006 Freja Cellars Estate Pinot Noir Willamette Valley $20
In Norse mythology, Freja is a goddess of love and fertility, the most beautiful of the deities, the patron of crops and birth, and the symbol of sensuality. The Freja Vineyards are located in the North Willamette Valley where the Pinot Noir vines grow on a very steep slope at 800-700 ft elevation on Chehelam Mountain. The wine has flavors of blueberries, black cherry and black currants with a long peppery finish. A good deal on an Oregon Pinot.

2006 Protos Roble, Ribera del Duero $15 |
Protos was one of the first wineries in the Ribera del Duero region. Their Joven Roble is 100% Tempranillo aged for only 4 months after fermentation. The result is a full fruity wine with red fruit aromas, sappy plums, dark cherry and black current fruit flavors with just a hint of vanilla and smooth tannins. The wine maker describes it like this: This wine gives plenty of fruity hints on the palate with a smooth and frank trip through the mouth and an elegant long aftertaste, leaving the sensation of its big brothers reminiscence.
2005 Caligiore Malbec Reserve $15
Organically grown at over 2700 ft. above sea level in Mendoza, on the Caligiore Estate Vineyards, the Reserve is produced with the first run juice from "old vine", 75+ year old vineyards. Round and rich, this Malbec has an extended maceration period to ensure firm yet soft tannins emerge from the fruit, not wood or oak. Floral aromas of rose and violets combined with red berry notes lead to ample dark fruit flavors with marks of delicate tannins, toffee and chocolate with a velvety finish and a well balanced acidity.
